Sergei Babayan
Internationally acclaimed pianist Sergei Babayan will perform ''An Evening of Chopin'' at 8 p.m. Friday in Wilson G. Chandler Recital Hall at Ƶ's Diehn Center for the Performing Arts. Babayan's appearance is sponsored by Virginia Music Teachers Association and in collaboration with Ƶ.
Babayan has been hailed for bringing a deep understanding and insight to a diverse repertoire. "Le Figaro" has praised his "unequaled touch, perfectly harmonious phrasing and breathtaking virtuosity." "Le Devoir" from Montreal put it simply: "Sergei Babayan is a genius. Period."
