Engineering runs deep in Abby Buck’s family. She is set to become a third-generation engineer, following in the footsteps of her father and both grandfathers:

  • Frank Buck – B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, 1951, Drexel University
  • Gary Quinn – B.S. in Electrical Engineering, 1975, Drexel University
  • Joseph Buck – B.S. in Electrical Engineering, 1988, Drexel University

While honoring her family’s legacy, Buck chose to forge her own path by pursuing civil engineering at ͹Ƶ—a place that, in her words, “felt like a true community.”

Buck’s decision to attend ͹Ƶ was driven by the university’s welcoming atmosphere and the opportunities it offered:

  • Strong academic support and mentorship
  • A community that challenged and encouraged growth
  • Access to real-world experience and professional development

“Attending ͹Ƶ was one of the best decisions of my life,” Buck said. “It opened doors that allowed me to thrive both academically and professionally.”

During her time at ͹Ƶ, she:

  • Secured an internship with HRSD, gaining hands-on experience in water resource management
  • Became actively involved in:
    • ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers)
    • Chi Epsilon (Civil Engineering Honor Society)
  • Earned the CEEVC William Boone Scholarship (Fall 2024)

After graduation, Abby will begin working as a water resource engineer for , a renowned global company.
